An old painting sketch I finished up quick… Painting water is hard when you approach painting with the mindset that everything has to be rendered like a sculpted, solid object gosh dang. Finally finished a picture of Elore! AKA the only good person in the entire cast of The Pursuit. She’s Fenter’s ex-fiance, they were together for ten years god bless her obliterated soul. Also she has the color scheme of banana how about that huh.

Luce’s is some horrible, obnoxious amalgamation of a Brooklyn and and Boston accent (which I don’t have an example of because I worked it out with my own gross New England-soaked voice) and Taftel’s would probably have a deep voice and a heavy Slavic-esque accent, something comparable to Mr. Bobinsky from Coraline but even less comprehensible, HA HA. (I said I shouldn’t throw accents around but here I am doing exactly that OOPS. I just love working with accents, man…)

Q:What do you imagine Filo to sound like? Any specific accents or pitch? I myself imagine him to sound like good 'ol Roger W.

AH HAH oh god, Filo’s a little too, ER, humble and soft-spoken for his voice to sound much like Roger Waters’s. (I did shamelessly base Fenter’s voice off of his, though, ah hah hah I ain’t sorry for nothin’.)

I’m surprised that you said that, though, because I’ve always thought people’d assume that he had one of those generic dweeby voices. (Which is good because that’s not want I want him to sound like at all.) I usually have a hard time finding voices to base my characters’ on, and I can’t really put in word what Filo’s voice would be… The two voices that I’ve liked for him were Alex Turner’s and Benjamin Orr’s. Leaning toward the former because I think a Sheffield accent would work well on him, though I have to be careful with throwing accents around.

Luce you are a good friend. I could keep this stupid blog updated if I just posted sketches like every other person, but I always feel that they aren’t very interesting to look at because they’re usually just grody messes of smudges that ooze frustration I mean I’d consider this one pretty dang clean for me but I still can’t just leave it uncolored because I don’t fuckin know I’m just bad at things.

I could keep this stupid blog updated if I just posted sketches like every other person, but I always feel that they aren’t very interesting to look at because they’re usually just grody messes of smudges that ooze frustration I mean I’d consider this one pretty dang clean for me but I still can’t just leave it uncolored because I don’t fuckin know I’m just bad at things.

My bud Ribbontail over at DA commissioned me to draw my own characters god bless them. The big dumb bird guy is Taftel… He’s a main character of The Pursuit but I never finish any art of him… Filo and Luce “befriend” him during the main plot of The Pursuit. When I say “befriend” I mean that they convince him to tag along with them because he’s an obedient idiot and makes a fabulous body guard. Something Filo and Luce were in dire need of because their world turns into a very nasty place once you step outside the civilized cities.  UNFORTUNATELY Taftel is prone to getting overexcited and overaffectionate and once those arms start swingin’ around, things end badly.

The big dumb bird guy is Taftel… He’s a main character of The Pursuit but I never finish any art of him… Filo and Luce “befriend” him during the main plot of The Pursuit. When I say “befriend” I mean that they convince him to tag along with them because he’s an obedient idiot and makes a fabulous body guard. Something Filo and Luce were in dire need of because their world turns into a very nasty place once you step outside the civilized cities. 

UNFORTUNATELY Taftel is prone to getting overexcited and overaffectionate and once those arms start swingin’ around, things end badly.

I have a habit of drawing Fenter at different stages of his life (and death)… But if he’s got the neon eyes and those bandages around his neck, he’s a ghost. I mean, Fenter died when Filo was five and, considering what Fenter did to Filo years ago, I doubt Filo would knowingly sit within a hundred miles of Fenter’s person. (It’s a good thing that Filo doesn’t know that Fenter is within a few inches of him at all times of the day!!!)

I was never a fan of the whole ~normal people but with animal ears and tails~ stuff, but I can make an exception for donkey people because fucking christ that is the most adorable thing. So I made me a dopey donkey boy for kicks. ME AND WATERCOLORS DON’T GET ALONG TOO WELL… I ain’t patient enough and I overwork things way too much uh huh huh. I’ll keep trying, though. (Don’t even look at that donkey; I didn’t have a reference so it’s just a slightly less unpleasent horse.)
