Cute little thing I drew for my vet, who’s been really understanding and helpful with a number of pet crises over the last year and a half. I owed him one, and the only thing I got to give is art SO HEY.
Having a St. Bernard and kittens at the same is not actually this cute because the St. Bernard will be petrified of the kitten most of the time, but once in awhile she’ll get the balls to try to play with the kitten, which results in me diving to save the kitten’s life because the St. Bernard is 135 pounds and likes to stomp on things when she plays with them. (AT LEAST, that’s what my experience has been.)
I like frickin’ around with that Pokefusion generator to try and make some viable designs. Did these as warmups.
The last one was done using a game I used to play when I was a kid. I had a Pokedex book and I’d flip to a page with a random Pokemon, draw one part of that Pokemon, flip to another page, draw another part and add it to the first part, rinse and repeat. Like some kind of character design jigsaw puzzle where none of the pieces fit so you have use a mallet and scissors to get them to merge together as some kind of horrible, freakish thing.
@duckstapler said: MAN I REALLY DIG ALL YOUR CHARACTERS… good to see taft again… also its too far back on my dash to find + comment but all of the bezrien monsters are little angels. very silent hill in a good way.
AWw, thanks so much man (how have you been?) I always neglect to notice how long the stretches of time are in between my postings of characters because I’m always workin’ with them even if I’m not posting art of them, like shit I haven’t submitted something of Filo since… NOVEMBER? What the heck.
And I made those monsters seven years ago when I was neck-deep in my middle school Silent Hill obsession HA HA~ I hope they’ve gotten their own identity through redesigns but I don’t mind them carrying those SH vibes at all, thanks!
BEEN THINKIN’ ‘BOUT DOING REFS AGAIN LATELY… I’ve heard arguments against doing in-depth refs, but fuck it, they really helped me feel more confident about sharing characters way back when so I’ve felt like doing them for the five main characters of The Pursuit. They’re just a nice springboard to jump off, y’know.
Tackling Taft first since I kinda, uh, owe it to him. Did some redesigning and made him more enjoyable to draw. More prominent breast to fix the problems I had drawing his torso, gave him bigger feet and a longer tail to fix the balance issues his design had… Everytime I draw him, he seems to get more of dinosaur look to him BUT I GUESS THAT’S NOT NECESSARILY BAD, UH… Anyways, just scribbling to try and settle on something.
REMEMBER THAT ONE TIME I ATTEMPTED TO DO REQUESTS… Well, I kinda neglected to remember that the anxiety of drawing things for people overwhelms the need to do them when it becomes an optional thing IE oops requests. Not to mention the fact that I’ve had an awful time trying to motivate myself to draw… Or do anything, really, HA HA…
BUT I DID FINISH ONE which I found on my desk yesterday while cleaning it… Dimetrodone suggested drawing an anthro pangolin so I designed this cutie (after trying to figure out how these scaly assholes work).
P.S. should I post more sketches like this to keep this blog going/motivate me to draw more… I think I’ve asked that like fifteen times now but GOD I get hella nervous about posting my sketches since they ain’t the prettiest looking things… But I kinda want to post them ahhh…
HAVEN’T POSTED ANY STORY CONCEPT STUFF IN AWHILE, stuck in one of those brutal self-conscious periods, whoops.
Some quick refs… These guys are actually part of The Pursuit! I’ve always mentioned that monsters played a big role in the story from the very beginning, but I haven’t really… Drawn them that much. All of the last drawings I’ve done of these guys are in my original DA gallery, goddamn.
Anyway, most of Bezrien’s natural fauna is comprised of monsters like these (and there are more species than this). Collectively, they’re known as ‘The Beasts of Bezrien’ (because it sounds good, check out that alliteration). All of the cities in the Santian Empire are completely enclosed, and the supposed reason behind that is to keep the hellish wilderness of Bezrien outside.
AS FOR THE NAMES uh… Luce named them. (Of course.)There aren’t any official names for these critters since Santians aren’t much for studying the natural world. These guys play one major role in mainstream Santian society; a deterrent for anyone thinking of leaving their city. These creatures are indeed nasty fuckers, but there awfulness is exaggerated to an extreme in Santian society and further amplified by the fact that most people have never seen them in the flesh.
THE SILENT HILL-ESQUE SNAPPER SKINS ARE NOW AVAILABLE TO BUY there’s four of ‘em for 800 gems apiece.
If you’re interested in ‘em, check out this thread!
The only art related thing I’ve done in the past few weeks is this Flight Rising skin because I’m a hella lame nerd. And I’m posting it here because whatever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You should buy one and give me dragon money for dragons or something, I guess.
Thank you to everyone that tried to help me out with Lola over the last months, but the more I tried to help her, the more it became evident that her issues were not limited to mere cat aggression. That surgery set something off in her that made it impossible to safely rehome her, while she also couldn’t live at my home anymore without risking my other cats’ health. Both situations involved her living in a state of constant anxiety and stress so we chose the most humane option, as much as it pained me to do so.
I’m sorry, my lil’ Lola, I wish I could’ve done something more for you, things shouldn’t have gone this way with such a routine surgery.
Kelpies are the worst things. (Based on that story of one luring a bunch of kids on it’s sticky ass back and drowning them all, with just one kid escaping.)
Guess I’ll throw some more assignments and shit up here. This one’s actually a collage, the kelpie’s head is a photo of a (nonfunctional) mask I made. Not used to the process, but hey, I underestimated the creepy factor of a sculpted face as opposed to a drawn one.
